Replacement of your GPRS-meter

English translation of the letter(s) that you have received from us
Changes in communication technology mean it is necessary to replace the meter at your address. We will explain more about this in this letter.
The 2G signal is being switched off
The smart meter at your address uses 2G mobile communication technology to send meter readings, as well as to ensure your consumption is registered at the high or low tariff. This signal is being switched off. Once this happens, it will only be possible to send meter readings using the 4G signal. Without a 4G signal we are no longer able to update the meter, which means we can no longer guarantee that high and low tariffs will be registered correctly. GPRS meters are not suitable for 4G. These meters therefore need to be replaced.
There is a GPRS meter installed at your address
We will therefore come and install a new smart meter at your address free of charge. You can then continue to take advantage of all the benefits of a smart meter. If you do not want your meter to send meter readings automatically, please inform the engineer during the installation or deactivate this function easily yourself at www.liander.nl/inloggen-in-mijn-liander.
You will soon receive a letter about making an appointment
This will explain how you can quickly and easily make an appointment with our contractor. You can choose a time that suits you.
Liander is your network operator
We ensure that 3.2 million households and businesses can use electricity and gas. Now and in the future.

What will happen if you do not make an appointment by the final date in the letter?
The benefits that come from having a smart meter will no longer be available to you from 1 January 2029 when the 2G signal is switched off.
The benefits of a smart meter include:
- Insight – via your energy supplier or an energy consumption app – into your energy consumption and any energy fed back to the grid. This can also help you save energy.
- Your meter readings are sent to your energy supplier automatically.
- Access to modern energy contracts, such as a dynamic contract or dual-rate tariff.
- In the event of a fault, we can resolve it more easily and more quickly for you.
What will happen if you do not make an appointment, but you want to replace your meter later on? We cannot guarantee that it will be possible to do this before 1 January 2029. You can find out more about this at www.liander.nl/vervangen-gprs.
